July 2015: We are pleased to announce our new affiliation with the Nevada Arts Council--Verismo Trio has joined their laudable Arts Learning Roster for 2015-2018. In addition to the support we already enjoy from being on the Wyoming Arts Council roster, participating in the Nevada Arts in Schools + Communities program means that Nevada presenters are now eligible to apply for grants to fund a Verismo Trio visit.  We are excited to begin this new relationship!

June 2015: It's official--Scott and Nicole will be hosting a new joint production, Wyoming Flute and Saxophone Day, on September 19, 2015 at University of Wyoming! Join us if you're in the area, and tell your friends:
  • Flute registration form here
  • Saxophone registration form here

May 2015: We're currently working (still?!) on our Minnesota / North Dakota tour for early November 2015, so drop us a line if you would like to see Verismo Trio come your way!

April 2015: We're editing our new CD, cloudServer, for an expected release in June 2015.  You can contact us now to pre-order your copy or to receive  information on downloading it from ACA.  Also, the  Fifteen Minutes of Fame scores are in and they look good!  Stay tuned for the announcement of our winners in mid-May.

February 2015:  Our friend Jason Emerson, composer of cloudServer, which we so love to play, has just started his own publishing company, barefootPriest musicPublishing.  You can find cloudServer here and watch a video of us workshopping it at our Brush Creek Foundation Residency from last spring.  Thanks for including us, Jason!

We are also packing our bags (and our winter gear!) for our tour of Nebraska and Iowa, which takes place February 5-7.  If you're near Lincoln, Omaha, or Indianola IA, we'd love to see you! Check out the full schedule under "Concerts".

November 2014: We're back from tour, where we ate great food (often fried), made terrific new friends, and finished recording for our upcoming CD.  Check out some of our amateur snapshots here!

October 2014: We're making our packing lists and finalizing our programs for the upcoming tour and recording sessions. Check out the fall newsletter for details here. And if anyone has any restaurant recommendations in Savannah, let us know!

September 23, 2014: And in unrelated news (well, isn't everything related?), we are bursting with excitement to see the call for our Fifteen Minutes of Fame scores go live today!  Hosted by Vox Novus out of NYC,  Fifteen Minutes of Fame is a brilliant composition contest in which composers are invited to send in one-minute scores.  We will choose 15 (hence, fifteen minutes) of the best submissions as our winners and will perform them in Laramie in October 2015, then again on a Vox Novus Series concert in NYC January 31, 2016.  Composers, start your engines!

September 2014:  Our fall tour is set: a series of concerts in Georgia and South Carolina in late October, culminating in the recording of our first CD in Atlanta in early November. The program will consist of pieces written for us and a few other originals to the flute/saxophone/piano instrumentation. Catch one of our shows if you're in the area; details can be found on our Concerts page. And to receive updates on the progress of our CD, be sure to like us on Facebook!

July 2014: We took a little (ahem) time off after our amazing Brush Creek Artist Residency, but we've finally organized some videos from our spring tour and workshops.  Take a look at our You Tube playlist here to catch up on what we've been doing!

April 2014: Listen to the live, world premiere performance of Shark Week II: The Return of the Sharknado by Ryan Jesperson on his Sound Cloud channel here.  This piece was a commission for us sponsored by WMTA in late 2013.

March 2014:  We've been polishing our program for next month's grand opening of Casper College's new concert hall, the majority of which is music that has been written or arranged for us. Included on this concert are the world premieres of Jason Barabba's Torschlusspanik,  Ryan Jesperson's Shark Week IIIvan Božičević's Monkey Face, and Dave Deason's pop/jazz-inspired Trio, along with a stunning arrangement of Debussy's Six Epigraphs Antiques for two pianos. If you're in the area, check out the details on our Concerts page and join us for the show!

December 2013: It's official: we have an album number being held for us on ACA Records, and we're starting to book our tour to Georgia and South Carolina for fall 2014.  We'll keep you posted on the progress of our first commercially recorded album, which will feature some of the incredible music that's been written for us, but in the meantime, you can hear our recording of Deason's Six New Diversions for Saxophone and Flute on Soundcloud here.

Happy holidays, everyone!

October 2013:  We have just learned of our acceptance to Brush Creek Arts Foundation for a spring residency. This fantastic opportunity will allow us two glorious weeks of rehearsal time in beautiful Saratoga, WY as we start putting together repertoire for our forthcoming CD on Albany Records.  Repertoire will include works written for us by Jason Barabba, Ivan Božičević, Dave Deason, and Ryan Jesperson, among others!

August 2013:  Torschlusspanik by L.A. composer Jason Barabba is now complete and in the hopper for our fall tour dates.  In Jason's own words, "This is a highly energetic piece, all based on the idea of panic.  The literal translation of the word is 'gate-closing panic' and hearkens back to the era of castles.  When your domain was under attack from outsiders, those outside the castle walls had to rush into the castle before the gates closed, cutting them off from the only security available.  With this in mind, I wanted to keep the energy levels high, and change patterns and effects rapidly." We think it suits us perfectly,.  ; )

June 2013: VT is excited to announce our latest upcoming collaboration with Los Angeles composer Jason V. Barabba.  This commission is for a fast, short work along the lines of our much-beloved Dash and is generously funded by University of Wyoming Composer's Fund.  The piece should be ready by September, in time to prepare for our November tour across Nebraska, Iowa, and Illinois (stay tuned for dates and locations).

April 2013: Nicole and Scott are in the studio recording composer Dave Deason's Six New Diversions for Flute and Soprano Saxophone, which he dedicated to them, for a CD of Dave's music due out later this year.

The new Chamber Music of Jennifer Higdon CD, on which VT performs three selections in various combinations, received high praise from reviewer Daniel Coombs of Audiophile.  Check out the review here

March 2013:  Verismo Trio is thrilled to announce the winner of our first-ever Commission Contest, the wonderfully talented composer Ryan Jesperson.  We are looking forward to giving the world premiere of this work, titled Hebdomas Squatinae and inspired by George Crumb's Vox Balaenae, among others, in June at the WMTA/CMSTA conference in June.  For more details on the performance, visit our Concerts page.  We would like to thank Wyoming Music Educator's Association for generously sponsoring this commissioning project.
